Birds project
We spent the day with some friends on Friday and spent the day doing a project on birds. We had such a great time. Firstly we gave the boys lapbooks. This is the first project where Ryver is using a lapbook. I really like the idea of them, it has taken me awhile to get my head around how they can work for me and Ryver, I sort of have the template that I want to work with, trial and error and time will guide me from now onwards!
It rained on and off for the whole day, so we made the most of the brief sunshine and gathered some materials from the garden to try and make a nest. Have to say I am in awe of birds for this skill of nest making. It was fun and interesting to see what the boys suggested and the materials they gathered, but nest making is not our strong point.
Once the rain started again, we all came inside to make some salt dough. I love that stuff and will be making tons of it from now onwards. As the topic of the day was birds, they all made a model of something to do with birds.
I am still planning and organising myself. My day works out so much better when I have put in a bit more planning. So even though I want to be spontaneous, I have decided that organised and spontaneous will have to work together. So once I know topics that we are doing in the month for the groups we attend. I start to research information, photos, maps etc and have all the print outs ready, so I can give Ryver a choice, of topic for that day. It seems to be working.
I have discovered Pintrest....OMG, I love that site. I have pined all sorts of things, educational, places I want to go, photography. It really is a great site. Off to pin right now!
